The Hive Project
The Hive Project brings music and performance to bear on three short poetic dramas that straddle the boundaries between humans and bees. Engaging with philosophical issues linked to the long and rich history of human-bee interactions, these plays seek to shed light on those habits of thought that prevent us from responding adequately to the interlocking environmental crises of our time, such as the “hive-collapse” syndrome decimating bee populations world-wide. Sexy and darkly comedic, these plays make the theater space, at least temporarily, into a hive.
Preliminary readings will be open to the public on July 26th and 27th at 8 PM, held at Art Share on 4th Place and Hewitt in the Arts District. Suggested donation of $10. In October, the project will travel to Notre Dame as part of the 2013 PostNatural Society of Science, Literature and the Arts conference, a major honor.
