PRIMITIVE POP at District Gallery until Dec. 1st

Primitivepop1The critic Edward Lippertsky coined the term ‘primitive pop’ to describe Rick Robinson’s playful, energetic figures that owe as much to Keith Haring as to the Venus of Willendorf (slimmed down to contemporary taste).  Rick’s steel cutout figures have been commissioned for public spaces in Europe and have been shown in dozens of venues on both coasts. They often seem poised to race off the walls and into the street.  It is astonishingly talented work that is at once thoughtful and fun.
